Yes... it's true. I was a grandfather before I was 39.
Comments:

I've had a couple of careers: retail manager (remember the old Goldman stores?), state supervisor for Waffle House, Disk Jockey and finally decided I wanted to "do computers" when I grew up!

So I've been in the computer field since 1983. First as a computer programmer, then network engineer, then software engineer, then as a consultant and now as a project manager. I've been a consultant to IBM, MCI, GE Aircraft, US Dept of Agriculture, ARMCO (AK Steel), US Dept of Commerce, EPA, OGDEN, Madison Square Gardens and a ton of small companies that probably no longer exist (a reflection of my consultant abilities?).

I recently earned another degree in Thelogy and Ethics and was ordained and I'm working on my Master's in Counseling.

School Story:

While doing one of the plays called "American Kaliedoscope" during our sophomore year... one of the unique aspects was that no one played a single part... there wasn't a "cast" but a company of players. So each person had many costume changes backstage. Unfortunately I had gained a few pounds from the time the costumes were sized to the opening night. Instead of wearing shorts under the costumes I had to drop the shorts so the costumes would fit. I'm sure a few of the cast thought I was streaking, but I was just trying to fit into the stupid pants.... honest...

I really hated that play....

What cities have you lived?

I've lived in Lima, Ohio, Mt. Clemens, MI, W. Palm Beach, FL, Lexington, Tipp City and now Wilder, KY.

Do you still speak to or hang out with friends from high school?

I still have contact with Ron Gay, Jerry Asbury ('73), Rich Wells, Pam Edens, Susan Opt, Ron Wukeson ('73), Bob Thompson ('74) and others. Facebook.com has brought a bunch of us together for mini-get togethers. And of course, Terri Huffman Witters and Kim Chandler Wolf ('77); I've been fortunate enough to have stayed connected with them throughout the ups and downs of life since high school.

How did you hear about this website?

Dennis Combs was keeping an email list of various classmates probably 30+ names. People would send jokes, happy birthday messages, etc. This email list planted a seed to find more old classmates and find out how they were doing. I imagine that since my kids are now grown with families of their own, I wanted to rekindle some old friendships.

From there I knocked around the idea to several people, Don Petry, Roger McCoy, Keith Bidwell, Robert Crawford, Daryl Johnson, Ron Gay, Pam Meyer Duty and others all took an early interest and provided a lot of encouragement. Ed Fisher was actually the first person to sign up on the website. I'm sure Ed said "Hello?" and heard the resounding echo and wondered if anyone was home!

So the website was started because I wanted to have a central place for the class of '75 to hook up with old friends. Facebook is nice, but there's so many people from different classes and then add work associates and others and it can be a bit overwhelming.

Age and mortality of life hit me as well. I had a mole removed from my cheek (my dermatologist thinks it's a riot for her to have patient named "Moles") and it was termed "pre-cancerous". It was a slight scare, but there's always the "what if" that runs through your head, plus my dad died at 54. Don't misunderstand, I'm ready to go when God calls me... I'm just not eager to get on the bus today... There's grandkids to play with and teach, there is more for me to do...

I have known so many friends that have passed away young.... which in turn made me think of my old friends that I haven't seen in 30+ years. I want to see them again. Yes, I'm a sentimental fool.

I thought maybe I was the only person that really enjoyed high school... I probably could have stayed another year or two and delayed college. Several of us met when Bob Crawford came up from Florida, we were discussing how much we really loved our high school years. I was glad I wasn't the only person that loved high school and high school friends. I had a blast and my friends made it some of the best times a kid could have.

So anyway, this site has really been just a place where we could renew old friendships and make new friends. I think now I wish school could have been structured differently. So many people in our class and so many we never had the chance to meet. Although I had many friends, most of my closest friends were musical, theatrical people because that's where I spent most of my time. I guess the best way to say it is that there were many people with whom we were friendly, but never had the opportunity to be friends.

Many of you are looking for one or two people that you were friends with and lost touch. Hopefully this site will help you locate them. I am looking for Ron Heard. I haven't seen Ron since 1977. True story, the day I left to move to Florida in 1983, he shows up at my mom's house. I missed him by an hour. He doesn't leave a number or address and that's the last I heard of him... so if you know where he is, tell him I'm looking for him!

Did you get any tattoos or body piercings since high school?

No

If so, what is it and where is it?

I thought about getting my son Chad tattooed on my shoulder...

but I really hate pain....

Your career now. Is what you wanted to do and how did you get into it?

I'm in the computer field for a chain of hospitals. I can't think of anything better I would like to do. I love being involved with the way computers have become an intregal part of healthcare. The technology is fascinating, PACS, Robotics, pumps, the possibilities are endless.

All this can mean quicker recovery time, earlier detection, it is a miracle in so many ways. When you need that heart by-pass, get a surgeon that uses the "DaVinci" robotics systems. Five small incisions, recovery time is in days instead of months. There is no longer a need to cut open your breast plate. Pumps that use a computer database of meds that won't let a doctor or nurse give you a deadly mix or overdose. This reduces the risk of human error greatly.

If you are attached, how did you and your spouse/partner meet?

Tammy and I met at TriHealth. We both work in the IT department. We've been friends since 1995. Her husband died when she was 35 in 1999 and we continued to be friends and hang out... eventually the hanging out became dating... When she asked me to marry her ... well I just couldn't say no! Okay... not exactly true... after much begging and pleading she finally told me yes... We were married 7/7/7 ... one date I knew I could remember.

I love my kids, I love my wife and I love my family. They are the reason I get up every morning. I have a wife who treats me like a king and that makes me want to treat her like queen.

Hey, if I'm getting to gushy, keep reading it's almost over....

What is your favorite memory of Stebbins High School?

I loved the choir, the plays and musicals... I especially loved Fiddler on the Roof. I still love to sing and do it as often as I can.

If you could go back in time, what would you do differently in high school?

No question... study more.... work harder for better grades...

What famous or interesting people have you met?

Art Linkletter, Mr. T, Neil Sedaka, Bill Gates (I literally ran into him at a computer show in Las Vegas), Phil Donahue, Sally Jessie Raphael. My son, Chad died from "huffing" compressed air, I was on Donahue and SJR shows to help kids stay away from this killer...

This year 3,000 kids under 17 will die from inhaling Glade, paint, Wite-Out, Freon, Reddi Whip, the list of inhalents is huge. Unfortunately, they don't realize it is like playing Russian Roulette. Which 10 second high will stop their heart? There are hundreds of products in your house that kids can inhale and get high and most of us haven't a clue to the dangers.

Did you ever skip school or class?

yeah... Ron Heard and I used to skip 4th period and go to Burger Chef in Huber Hts for lunch. I didn't think it was so bad, Tom Skowron, the Civics teacher used to sleep through class anyway. Everyday, he'd say "I don't feel like teaching today"... I think eveyone got an A in his class.

What are you afraid of?

I fear something bad happening to my children/grandchildren and not being able to stop it.

What words of wisdom would you leave us, friends and/or family with?

My mom used to keep a plaque on one of the walls growing up. It said...

"Make the words you say today tender, warm
and sweet."
"For tomorrow they may well be words that you
will have to eat."

I try to think first and speak second. My dad told me as a kid I tend to "enter a room, mouth first"... You know the guy, he 's telling a stupid joke to his friends and he opens the door to a funeral in process.... Hopefully, I have a better grip on that today than when I was a teenager.

Chris so glad you found us!!! I see posts from your sister on FB, but I've had many people ask about you over the years. Now I can point them your way. Side note... I can be slow on the uptake sometimes... many MANY years ago your sister Sue played the organ for me to sing at the Community Church off Burkhardt. For the life of me I never equated Sue Blizzard and Chris Blizzard as siblings until Hazel posted a family pic of all the kids a few months ago. What do you know... there you were... there she was... sometimes I wonder how I get through life. Anyway... Hope all is going well. Jeff

Little Bit is our Chihuahua. She is a rescue dog from the animal shelter (my youngest Myndi works at the shelter)... she is very timid and hates for Tammy to dress her up in these dresses... it is very humiliating....

Jesse, Andrew, Jeff and Chad about 1991.

Chad was everything I was not... very smart and a great athlete. Football was his favorite. He would put on his shoulder pads and then wear my jacket so his shoulders looked huge. He and his friends would go over and greet the opposition. When the time was right, Chad would say "C'mon guys I need to put on my pads and uniform." The other team would look sick...
